With the crises of the current political and economic order deepening every day, Fabians know that new ideas are as important as ever. That’s why we’ve decided to begin publishing a quarterly print and online magazine, dedicated to envisioning a better future and how to get there.
Each edition is going to have a theme, with a portion of the magazine’s content set aside for exploring it in depth. To help us decide what themes we should work with for the first four editions, we want to hear from our members.
You’ll see ten options below. We’ve deliberately kept them fairly broad to allow our writers plenty of scope for interpretation. We invite you to help us out by choosing the one you would most like to see the new magazine focus on in its first year.
And if you're interested in writing on these topics or anything else, please don’t hesitate to pitch an idea to [email protected]

Q: Are there any other themes you would like to see an edition of the Quarterly Review focus on? A: it seems to me no surprise that domestic violence, child abuse and incarceration of indigenous people is increasing and the gap in health statistics is not closing and the gap between the rich and poor, or affluent and non affluent, is growing as more women and indigenous people become affluent. discussion of these matters and inequality among people, and power differential are in my view unsatisfactory, simplistic and uncritical.

Q: Are there any other themes you would like to see an edition of the Quarterly Review focus on? A: I feel the notion of taxation and the full range of social and economic principles behind it, needs to be examined. I believe the social contract, which gave the government the right to tax on behalf of all is no longer valid, and is certainly not universally accepted. The current model no longer works and should be re-evaluated in light of looming changes in working patterns, technological change and the rise of tax avoidance in corporations.
