This event aims to foster a deeper understanding of the delicate balance media must maintain in providing unbiased information while navigating the complex landscape of public opinion and misinformation.
Denis Muller is a leading expert on media ethics, working for 27 years as a journalist and in editor roles at the Sydney Morning Herald and the Age. Dr Muller teaches media ethics Melbourne University and is the author of works on journalistic ethics, media accountability and democracy. Currently is an Honorary Fellow at the Centre for Advancing Journalism.
Nicholas Reece is an executive at the University of Melbourne and principal fellow at the Melbourne School of Government, teaching public policy and politics programs. Nick was a founding director for the street newspaper The Big Issue and has worked in senior government roles. Currently, he serves as Melbourne’s Deputy Lord Mayor covering the Planning and Governance portfolios and is also a commentator for SKY News and a regular columnist for The Age.
