Australian Fabian Fundraiser! Screening of the film Pride!
Join Us for a Special Screening of "Pride" (2014) - A Tribute to Intersectionality and Solidarity
Celebrate the 40th anniversary of the historic miners' strike and explore the powerful theme of intersectionality with a screening of "Pride" (2014), hosted by the Australian Fabians. This event is not just a movie night; it's an opportunity to reflect on the enduring lessons of solidarity and activism.
"Pride" tells the inspiring true story of a group of LGBTQ+ activists who form an unexpected alliance with Welsh miners during the 1984 UK miners' strike. Through their solidarity, they discover the shared struggles of marginalized communities and the strength that emerges when different groups unite for a common cause.
As we watch "Pride," we'll delve into the concept of intersectionality, understanding how different forms of discrimination and oppression overlap and intersect. This film beautifully illustrates how solidarity across diverse communities can create powerful social change.
