With the collapse of trust in Australia's institutions and the retreat of unionism from everyday working life growing, the country is also experiencing the rise of far-right politics. Citizens, community leaders and policymakers who recognise this threat are calling for strategies to prevent Australia succumbing to it.

Is One Nation's surge a temporary blip or the continuation of a slow-developing rupture in political life? Could a class-based union movement stem the tide of discontented Labor supporters drifting to Pauline Hanson?

Join us at 6:30 pm at the Kathleen Syme Library, for an engaging discussion and Q&A as Oscar Kaspi-Crutchett explores the role of unions and collective action in reversing the onward march of far-right politics.

Oscar Kaspi-Crutchett is a research organiser at the Victorian Trades Hall Council and author of the new report "Antidote: trade unionism as a vaccine against far-right politics". His writing outlines the role for workers and their unions in taking on the far-right in Australia.
