How can we argue for economic justice in a way that effectively counters the racially divisive messaging of the populist right? How can we talk about trade agreements, migrant labour and wages in a way that builds solidarity with migrant communities and working people of colour? The Victorian Trades Hall Council and Australian Council of Trade Union Insights unit have undertaken exciting new messaging research that shows progressive campaigns are more persuasive where explicitly linking racial and class justice. A presentation by Edwina Byrne (VTHC) and Simone Rosser (ACTU) will be followed by a panel discussion that includes United Workers Union Lead Organiser Chanda Parmar-Bonta and Prof Shamit Saggar from the University of WA. This event is co-hosted by UnionsWA, Australian Fabians, The McKell Institute and UWA Public Policy Institute.
