Is inequality fraying our social fabric?

Thursday - 01 May, 2025 - 06:30 PM

Kathleen Syme Centre - 251 Faraday Street, Carlton - Carlton, Australia

RSVP AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS PAGE (Next to map)

Australia prides itself on being the land of the ‘fair go’, but rising inequality is challenging that. What are the consequences for how we live together, trust each other, and build our communities? Is social cohesion at risk?

Join us to hear Dr Emily Porter, from the Brotherhood of St Laurence, and Professor Jolanda Jetten, from the University of Queensland, on how inequality is reshaping our lives — and how to hold our social fabric together.

A small entrance fee will be charged to non-members.

Members free, Non-members $5.

After Event Dinner & Drinks: all are welcome to join us for dinner and drinks at the nearby Clyde Hotel, 385 Cardigan St, Carlton. (Kitchen closes at 9:00pm.)

Note this event will be preceded by the Victorian Fabians AGM at 6:00pm, for which all Victorian financial members of the Fabians are invited to attend - details here.
