Australia has committed to reaching net zero emissions by 2050, but after falling for fourteen years, our emissions reductions appear to have flatlined. What is going on? What are the political, economic and technical roadblocks at play? How do we resume the march to net zero and avoid global Armageddon?
Tony Wood AM is Director of the Energy Program at the Grattan Institute and was previously an executive at Origin Energy. From 2009 to 2014 he was also Program Director of Clean Energy Projects at the Clinton Foundation, advising governments in the Asia-Pacific region on low-emission energy technologies. He provided an industry perspective to the first Garnaut climate change review in 2008, and in 2018 was awarded a Member of the Order of Australia. In 2019 he became a Fellow to the Australian Academy of Technology and Engineering.
Note: The event is upstairs and there is no lift at this venue, so attendees will be required to climb a set stairs.
