Join Andrew Leigh and Victoria Fielding as we discuss ‘How COVID-19 will Affect the Progressive Vision for Australia’s Future’
Inequality is being exacerbated by the coronavirus crisis, as jobs are lost and services cut. More people are relying on government supports, the charity sector, and the charity of their neighbours for assistance. Disadvantaged Australians are the most vulnerable to the virus, and the most at risk in an economic downturn.
Already, the usual suspects on the right are arguing that the policy agenda in 2021 should be dominated by company tax cuts, attacks on unions, and further dismantling of environmental protections.
Too few people are adapting their ideas in response to the new political and economic circumstances. If progressives are to shape the national conversation for a post-COVID future, we need to do the hard thinking now.
This Friday at midday, the Australian Fabians and Andrew Leigh are going to host a Zoom conversation about ‘How COVID-19 will affect the Progressive Vision for Australia’s Future’.
RSVP below to join Victoria Feilding, Leon Cermak and I from midday on Friday 24 April on the Zoom chat. Otherwise, we will be streaming LIVE to both my facebook page and the Australian Fabian’s page.
No long speeches – it’s an informal conversation, and we’re keen to hear your ideas. Look forward to seeing you there.
