Workshop One – What values should Australian Society aspire to?
Australian National Development Index
Australian Fabians are being invited to take part in developing a model format for an extensive and inclusive national community engagement process as part of the development of ANDI (the Australian National Development Index).
It is your opportunity to have a significant input to a project which will have far-reaching impact on Australia, its development and, ultimately, its true sense of itself. We are seeking to know what sort of Australia would you like to live in?
What is ANDI?
ANDI (the Australian National Development Index) is an ambitious long-term national project aimed at developing ongoing measures of equitable and sustainable well-being for Australia as a more relevant and appropriate approach than the GDP. Outstanding Australians, Professor Fiona Stanley AC, and Tim Costello AO are its Directors and Sir Gus Nossal AC is an ANDI ambassador.
ANDI aims to produce an annual index of national progress and well-being, as well as indices of progress and status reports in twelve key domains of progress, such as health, education, justice, indigenous wellbeing, children and youth wellbeing, environment and sustainability, work and work life, community and regional life.
It is clear that to build a better and fairer Australia ‘beyond GDP’, we need a community process to define and measure the concrete outcomes that inform our collective vision for the country and a process for regularly measuring and reviewing our progress towards that vision. We need you to help.
Come along and make a significant contribution to social progress in Australia.
