The Hon Ken Travers MLC was elected to the Western Australian Legislative Council in 1997 as a Member for the North Metropolitan Region, has had a long term interest in transport and planning.  As Shadow Minister for Transport in 2013, he led the development of Labor’s Metronet policy.

Ken is a former Parliamentary Secretary for Planning and Infrastructure. In the Carpenter Government he co-chaired a committee addressing transport and infrastructure issues, arising from the rapid growth and low levels of local employment in Perth's north-west corridor. Since then he has been a strong advocate for public transport, supported by good urban planning in the Parliament and in the community.
